After 20 years with the New England Patriots, Tom Brady is leaving Boston as he looks for a new team to play for, making it official on Twitter with a heartfelt 2-part message:

Brady will go down as arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history. The superstar is a six-time Super Bowl champion, four-time Super Bowl MVP, 14-time Pro Bowler and 3-time NFL MVP. Since becoming a starter in 2001, he led the Patriots to 17 AFC East titles, 17 postseason berths and 9 trips to the Super Bowl.
While his age (42) may be seen as a negative to some teams, both the Buccaneers and Chargers have expressed interest in Brady, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, with reported deals worth $30 million per season or more.
“Tommy initiated contact last night & came over,” Patriots owner Robert Kraft told Mike Reiss of ESPN. “We had a positive, respectful discussion. It’s not the way I want it to end, but I want him to do what is in his best personal interest. After 20 years with us, he has earned that right. I love him like a son”
It’s the end of an era for sure, and it will definitely be strange seeing Brady run onto the field in a uniform other than the Patriots. But it should make for some exciting football, regardless of where he ends up.
